About Us
“If my designs can bring a little extra fun, inspiration and
motivation to readers, every time they read a book, then I’ve done my job.” –
Nathalie Edouard, Founder
Bloomer Bookmarks was created by a family of readers for
readers of all sorts. We hope to encourage and inspire readers to continue
reading, learning and growing! As a mother of two young boys who are both very different readers, I know that there can never be too many tools and resources when it comes to making reading fun and enjoyable.
My first son began his journey through books with a tireless curiosity and passion. He ate them up! Literally from the ages when he could crawl around and get to them. One of my proudest moments as a mother occurred when he received an award during his 5th grade promotion ceremony, for having the highest number of reading points. Although he always seemed to have a book in his hand during that year, I was shocked and amazed. During that time, his books always looked like they had been victims of his old habit of eating them because he would turn down the corners of his books when he had to save his page.
Now, my younger son's advancement towards books has been a different story (no pun intended)! He resisted reading for a few years, although he knew the basics pretty well. He only seemed interested in reading when I was reading to him. He preferred picture books with fun bright and interesting characters, especially the book No David by David Shannon.
I used both of my sons as inspiration when designing the Reading Night Owl bookmarks. In order to save those poor corners from being bent down (especially on library books!) and to bring some bright fun with an interesting character for children like my younger son, I came up with bookmarks that I think fit the bill!

I would like to thank Dorian Mcgilvary who spent many hours taking my original concept and turning it into the fun beautiful design we see today. The final owl design goes to him. It was his vision, talent and design that brought my concept to life! He is a truly wonderful artist. He is currently working on independent creative en devours and as soon as his online profile is complete, I will link it here.
